Jewellery Inspiration: BLAKE LIVELY's Earrings

We have a serious style crush on Blake Lively. No, not her character Serena Van Woodsen but Blake herself. She has made Vogue's Best Dressed list, is a face of Chanel and allegedly dating one of Hollywood's most desirable bachelors, Leonardo Di Caprio. But you know what we noticed? She has a thing for emerald earrings!

BOUNKIT Green Onyx and Citrine Earrings

We love how she paired a very contemporary Chanel dress with vintage-looking emerald earrings. We have similar vintage ones by Valentino and Panetta, although Bounkit's pear-shaped earrings are lovely too.

KENNETH JAY LANE Emerald Drop Earrings

Seen here in a sexy black see sheer dress, Blake opted for a high ponytail and bright emerald drop earrings to balance things out.

Looking very high fashion in a strong-shoulder Balmain sequin dress. Hair up in a long beautiful braid with rich emerald clip-ons on her ears. They are the same shape as our Bounkit ones, although the diamond shaped Kenneth Jay Lane's are stunning too.

I think we have found a jewellery aficionado in Blake!

NEW ARRIVALS: Vintage CHANEL

Coco Chanel's birdcage*

A couple of new vintage Chanel jewels just arrived: so lovely and very Coco Chanel herself.

Vintage Chanel CC Turquoise Drop Earrings

This very unique set of chandelier earrings are very much inspired by Coco's famous birdcage. Remember that famous Coco perfume ad with Vanessa Paradis as a bird? Well, these earrings are in the exact gold and turquoise combination -- one of Coco's favourites -- as the famous cage. Irresistible!

Vintage Chanel Large Lapis Lazuli CC Logo Flower Earrings

And, of course, we got a new pair of Coco Chanel button earrings -- the shape always worn by Coco herself. This particular pair is ideal for summer with a bright purple centre surrounded by flower pedals made from interlocking Cs. It doesn't get more classic than this!

Just lovely.

Sophie's Closet Style Icon: SUZANNE ROGERS

One of the most elegant women in the world is Canada's Suzanne Rogers. Not only that she has impeccable taste in clothes, but, after seeing her feature on The Coveteur, she also has impeccable taste in, well...everything! As a fan of pastels shades, all things frilly, all things Chanel and Vivier, coupled with a little bit of an edge by McQueen, she is an ideal Sophie's Closet style icon.

Suzanne Rogers' closet

"I keep only one or two seasons in my present closet, the rest is put away and stored. I label all boxes with a photo and try to color coordinate everything; I am a neat freak. Spring/Summer is my favorite season, my closet becomes full of color and my clothes seem to come to life! The other half of my closet is all black…easy dressing!"

To call this our dream closet would be an understatement. It's beyond a dream: a heaven of sorts. Notice the orange Hermes boxes neatly labeled?

Her collection of shoes is beyond amazing: elegantly organized by colour. One can never have too many Viviers, right? They are a work of art.

Roger Vivier

"Vivier will always be a timeless classic; they are my favorite clutches. I love the crystal buckles and the structured shape; so very feminine – they can make any outfit."

We love this image of all her S/S florals. So girlie and pretty.

Chanel

"I love the structure in the Chanel handbags and the vast shapes and styles that are collectibles from season to season. These bags will always have a place in my closet!"

Speaking of girlie, Chanel bags and porcelain tea cups are also Sophie's favourite!

Alexander McQueen

"I am a collector of all McQueen. There are many pieces I have that have never been worn and are like pieces of art in my closet that one day will be incredible vintage pieces. The drapery and the folding of the jackets and dresses suit my style of dress. I love to be feminine, even if it’s sometimes with a bit of an edge. That’s how I describe my McQueen style."

Just last week we posted about Alexander McQueen's exhibition at the MET and we were wondering: but who actually wears these beautiful things? Well, the answer is: Suzanne Rogers!

To view more of her dreamy closet, head over to The Coveteur. But, we warn you, it's so beautiful, you might get a tiny teeny bit jealous.

CRAZY COLOUR!

Vogue Australia (March 2011)

One of our favourite editorials this season so far is this one from Vogue Australia. It's so fun, colourful and very heavy on Prada (which we love!). Yellows, reds, pinks, greens and blues -- the brighter the better!

Freshly at Sophie's Closet are Erickson Beamon 'Schiaparelli' earrings (we assume a nod to Elsa Schiaparelli) and they are so adorable and fun. Dangly chandeliers with blue crystals and a bright fuchsia base, these are bound to be go-to summer earrings. Kenneth Jay Lane's white enamel bracelet would make for a perfect companion.

Summer glamour means brightly coloured crystals and, once again, Erickson Beamon and Kenneth Jay Lane make a perfect pair. Imagine wearing both of these at the same time? Fun!

For bit more of an earthly but still summery tone, we are loving a pop of bright orange or a deep green. Vintage Chanel stars are so ideal for a sunny daytime stroll and Siman Tu's chandeliers are so perfect for a romantic night out.

Crazy colour equals crazy fun summer!

PRETTY PICTURES: "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty"

We wish we could jet over to New York just to see this exhibition. "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty" at The Metropolitan Museum of Art looks so breathtakingly beautiful! McQueen, never being one to take a conventional take on fashion, always looked to historical events and figures to create his narratives. The result was often a strong female figure, also with a sense of certain fragility.

Being a great couturier, each garment consisted of such intricate delicacies, whether it was beadwork, lacework, pleats and ruffles, feathers, or even real flowers sewn onto the garments.

The garments are so beautiful, we could stare at them forever. It's hard to believe how much this designer accomplished in such a short lifespan.

There is spectacular jewellery too, or more like body armour, really. Hopefully, we will soon be able to see it in person. For now, we'll have to settle for the exhibition catalogue.
